To coincide with the 17th Lyon Biennial of Contemporary Art, the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois is presenting a new "Trames" circuit, showcasing the work of five Chinese artists in a variety of venues dedicated to art, culture, heritage and sharing in Lyon, the Greater Lyon area and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

"Trames" is coming back in 2024!

For this new edition, the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois, in partnership with Yishu8 – Maison des Arts de Pékin, is highlighting the meeting between personal experiences and stories, traditions and contemporaneity, through the works of Chinese artists, some of them living in China, the others in France or between the two countries. They use iconic locations to enhance the relationships between individuals and the diverse environments in which they live. Each in her own way draws on her own knowledge and experience to produce powerful contemporary works charged with multiple narratives, as intimate and personal as they are profoundly universal.

"Trames" is a weaver of links, between France and China, between artists and audiences, between heritage and contemporary art. These are exchanges, words and encounters that nourish the richness of cultural diversity. Thus, the artists presented here are deliberately eclectic in their practices: painting, sculpture, installation, meticulous or monumental works, indoors or outdoors, conceived and presented in harmony with the place that hosts them, to enrich the dialogue and ensure that one always enhances the other.
