The large greenhouses of the current Botanical Garden were built between 1860 and 1880. They were home to local plants, but also to many tropical and equatorial varieties that had never been seen before in Lyon. These new species, which inspired the city's silk workshops to create exotic motifs, are also those found in the graphic identity of this edition of the Biennale de Lyon.
