The vivdly colourful inflatable sculptures made by Eva Fàbregas evoke the worlds of plants (flowers with their pistils and seeds) animals (carcasses and insect cocoons) and humans (reproductive organs). Hanging from the ceiling, they seem poised to proliferate throughout the venue, thus threatening to contaminate the exhibition areas. Playing with the contrast between the organic forms of her sculptures and the industrial look of the architecture, Fàbregas’ artwork invites us to reach beyond binary oppositions between fragility and strength, growth and decay, sensuality and monstrousness.
